Cyber Monday 2018 saw an estimated $7.9 billion in eCommerce revenue according to Adobe Analytics. This shattered the previous record and represents a 19.7% YoY increase, making Cyber Monday 2018 the largest US online shopping holiday of all time. It will come as no surprise that Cyber Monday 2019 is estimated to set a new record of $9.4 billion in online sales.

In an effort to stand out from the crowd and maximize holiday revenue, many brands are moving towards extending promotions from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, and even into the following week. In 2018, the Thanksgiving weekend (Thanksgiving Day through Cyber Monday) recorded an astonishing $24.2 billion in online sales. This shift towards “Cyber Week” has a lot of advantages for online retailers and appears to be a trend that’s here to stay.

Cyber Week promotions are no longer just a US thing. After all, bargain hunting has a universal appeal to consumers. According to a 2018 Hult Business School study, global interest in Black Friday has risen by an average of 117% YoY across the last 5 years.
